Product Overview
The PlantPro Raspberry Beetle Trap is an effective monitoring and mass-trapping tool designed to reduce damage from Byturus tomentosus, a major pest of raspberries, blackberries and loganberries. When paired with a Raspberry Beetle Pheromone Lure (sold separately), the trap helps identify beetle activity early and supports a proactive, pesticide-free control strategy for home growers and small-scale fruit producers.
How It Works
Adult raspberry beetles are attracted to both the species-specific pheromone lure and the white cross-vanes on the trap, which mimic the appearance of raspberry flowers. Beetles fly toward the vanes, collide with the panels, and drop through the funnel into the collection bucket below. Filling the bucket with a small amount of soapy water prevents the beetles from escaping, providing accurate monitoring and an effective mass-trapping method during peak activity.
How to Use
- Assemble the trap by attaching the white cross-vanes and securing them into place.
- Add a small amount of soapy water to the base bucket.
- Insert a Raspberry Beetle Pheromone Lure (sold separately) into the lure holder at the top of the trap.
- Hang the trap at crop height in raspberry, blackberry or loganberry rows.
- Use one trap per 100–200m², depending on crop density.
- Replace the lure every 4–6 weeks throughout the season.
- Check the trap frequently and dispose of captured insects responsibly.
