Product Overview
The PlantPro Raspberry Beetle Pheromone Lure is designed to help you monitor and reduce populations of Byturus tomentosus (raspberry beetle) in soft fruit crops. Using a species-specific pheromone attractant, each lure draws in adult male beetles to a compatible monitoring trap (sold separately), supporting timely intervention and integrated pest management without conventional insecticides.
How It Works
The lure contains a slow-release pheromone that mimics the natural scent emitted by female raspberry beetles. When placed in a suitable pheromone trap, the attractant draws in flying males, which are then captured inside the trap. By removing males from the population, mating and egg laying are reduced and pest pressure can be monitored so you can plan additional control measures at the right time.
How to Use
- Remove one pheromone lure from the foil sachet just before use.
- Do not open or cut the plastic capsule – the pheromone is released through the material.
- Place the capsule into the lure holder or basket of a compatible PlantPro pheromone trap (trap not included).
- Hang the trap at crop height within the raspberry or soft fruit area, ideally just before flowering, and space traps evenly across the crop.
- Check traps regularly and record catches to track raspberry beetle activity.
- Replace the lure every 4–6 weeks, or sooner in very warm weather, to maintain effective attraction.
- Keep unused lures sealed and stored in a fridge or freezer until needed.
